Vale Billie Jo Peterson
The Stawell Athletic Club mourns the loss of Billie Jo
Peterson, who passed away on Wednesday (October 11), aged 26.
The talented Geelong
sprinter was a well known and popular figure on the VAL circuit and was a
regular visitor to Central Park, competing in various sprint events across numerous
Easter weekends.
She was also a regular contestant in the Fashions on
the Field, and a stunning winner in 2007.
The Stawell Athletic Club extends their condolences to
Billie Jo’s finance Mark Hignett, himself a Stawell Gift runner-up, family and
friends during this difficult time.

Ross retires
The Stawell Athletic Club sends their congratulations
to two-time Australia Post Stawell Gift winner Joshua Ross, following his retirement
from athletics.
Ross wrote his name into athletics immortality with a
stunning win at the 2005 Australia Post Stawell Gift when he became only the
second man to win from scratch and just the third to win the coveted race on
two occasions following his first victory in 2003.
Ross, who regularly referred to Central Park Stawell
as his ‘second home’, was a five-time national 100m champion, three-time world
championships representative and 2004 Olympian.
The Stawell Athletic Club sends Josh their best wishes for his future endeavours.

THE STAWELL GIFT STILL NEEDS YOUR HELP
As an iconic regional event, steeped in
history and tradition, the Stawell Gift cannot continue to maintain its
position as the most prestigious and richest foot race in the southern
hemisphere, without the help of the local community, the professional running
fraternity, and the national sporting audience – both corporate and
individuals.
Listed
below are four options, including the newly launch ‘20 | 10 campaign’, for individuals, families and businesses to get
behind the Stawell Athletic Club and ensure the long term viability of the
Stawell Gift.
