There was plenty of excitement at Central Park for the final of the Australia Post Stawell Gift as one lucky spectator drove away from the 2010 Australia Post Stawell Gift in a brand new 2010 Toyota Yaris as the winner of the newly introduced Australia Post Stawell Gift Sweepstakes.

The Stawell Athletic Club would like to congratulate Kevin Liston from Beaufort, the lucky first prize recipient.

Kevin was one of six randomly drawn patrons allocated a silk colour corresponding with a finalist from the Australia Post Stawell Gift.  Kevin was allocated the yellow silk, matching the sillk worn by winner Tom Burbidge and as they say - the rest is history.

Everyone who attended Central Park on Easter Monday, 5 April for the 2010 Australia Post Stawell Gift was provided with an entry form upon arrival to go in the draw to win.  Those drawn a runner had to be present at the ground at the time of drawing (1pm) and at the time of the Australia Post Stawell Gift final to be eligible.

The first prize was a brand new 2010 Toyota Yaris YR 1.3 litre manual, five door hatch, including dealer delivery, valued at $15,990. 

The total prize pool for the Australia Post Stawell Gift sweepstakes was worth $19,500, with prizes including:

1st prize:    2010 Toyota Yaris YR 1.3 litre manual, five door hatch, including dealer delivery
2nd prize:   5000litre rainwater tank and water pump donated by Ranson Rotomoulding
3rd prize:    Fisher & Paykel Dishwasher donated by Stawell Farm Supplies
4th prize:    Four-night’s accommodation at Halls Gap Gate Resort
5th prize:    Set of four fitted Maxxis tyres donated by Farrers Tyre and Brakes
6th prize:    ASICS sports pack including shoe voucher 

A product of the Stawell Athletic Club fundraising committee and with the support of Howden’s Toyota, the Australia Post Stawell Gift sweepstakes joins the growing list of new initiatives introduced by the Stawell Athletic Club in 2010.  The list also includes the Stawell Gold Mines Gift Winners Gift, the expansion of international coverage via Australia Network, local schools promotional postcard competition and the Celebrate Stawell Sports Night, with more announcements to come.

Stawell Athletic Club fundraising committee member Ian Bigmore, was confident that the Australia Post Stawell Gift sweepstakes helped see the biggest crowd descend on Central Park at Easter for a number of years.

“The local businesses in Stawell and surrounding areas have been hugely supportive of all the activities devised by the Stawell Athletic Club fundraising committee, from the Fishers IGA grocery grab and Celebrate Stawell night to now the Australia Post Stawell Gift sweepstakes,” Bigmore said.  

“We hope that the opportunity to win a brand new car provided that extra incentive, in particular to those from the local region, to attend the Australia Post Stawell Gift and support this unique event.”
