Ladies to show the glamour of the Gift

Central Park in Stawell will be awash with fun, glamour and fashion as racing gets underway on Saturday 7April, 2012. The Driscoll McIllree & Dickinson Ladies Day is held on Easter Saturday during the 2012 Australia Post Stawell Gift and will not only feature the heats of the 2012 Gift, but also a day for the ladies to frock up and celebrate with a glass of bubbly.

With plenty of entertainment for the whole family, Driscoll, McIllree & Dickinson Ladies Day is a staple of the Australia Post Stawell Gift Carnival each and every year. The highlight of the day is the widely popular tradition of Fashions on the Field.

The lucky lady who is judged best on field will walk away with $1000, a bottle of Kelly’s Welcome Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay, courtesy of Grampians Estate, and the ‘Billie Jo Peterson Memorial Sash.’

Billie Jo Peterson, who tragically passed away in 2009 at the age of 26, was a former Fashions on the Field winner and a hugely popular athlete on the professional running circuit who was a regular Gift competitor.

The men aren’t forgotten with a $250 cash prize up for grabs for the best dressed male entrant thanks to Stawell Dry Cleaners. Prizes for the Fashions on the Field will also be awarded for the best hat on the day so everyone is encouraged to visit the Fashions on the Field tent to register. All entrants get the chance to strut their stuff on the red carpet for the judges at 3pm. The parade and presentations will take place at 3:40pm.

Ladies are encouraged to visit the Grampians Estate Wine Enclosure where they can put their feet up with their complimentary glass of sparkling wine and listen to live music, watch a fashion show presented by local designers and enjoy all the action on the track.

The children are not forgotten on Driscoll McIllree & Dickinson Ladies Day. While mum is relaxing, kids will be entertained by face painting, crafts, rides and attractions.

The 131st edition of the Australia Post Stawell Gift carnival will be staged over the Easter long weekend from Friday, 6 April to Monday, 9 April 2012.

Tickets for the Driscoll, McIllree & Dickinson Ladies Day start at $15 for adults and $7 for children, or alternatively a family ticket for Saturday can be purchased for $45. Three day weekend event passes are just $50 for adults or $95 for families.
