Australian 100m champion Melissa Breen was winning on and off the track at the 2012 Australia Post Stawell Gift – not only did she win the State of Victoria Strickland Family Women’s Gift 120m but she also took out the coveted Driscoll, McIllree & Dickinson Fashions on the Field title on Easter Saturday too.
The Fashions on the Field competition is one of the most hotly contested titles at Central Park over Easter, with $1000 on the line for the winner courtesy of Driscoll, McIllree & Dickinson.
Breen was talking up her chances ahead of the Easter weekend, and she certainly lived up to the hype, taking out the title in a stunning emerald and black ensemble.
In addition to the $1000 cash prize, Breen also received the Billie Jo Peterson memorial sash and a bottle of Kelly’s Welcome Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay courtesy of Grampians Estate.
Ballarat’s Kathryn O’Dwyer was awarded second place and Samantha Sammut from Long Jetty was third. Local entrant Marlene Erard from Great Western won best hat.
Ascot Vale’s Tom Kelly was named the winner of the men’s Fashions on the Field competition for his dapper outfit, awarded $250 cash from Stawell Drycleaners.
A record 57 entrants were on parade in the ninth edition of Driscoll, McIllree & Dickinson Ladies Day.
