FORMER Ararat runner, Sarah Blizzard has accomplished her goal of running a sub twelve-second time in the 100-metre sprint.
Blizzard ran a personal best time of 11.98 at the Canberra Track Classic on Saturday.
This followed a second placing at the Stonnington Woman’s Gift in Melbourne on Friday night.
Catching an early flight back to Canberra on Saturday, Blizzard said she couldn’t be happier and thanked everyone for their support.
Her parents, Neil and Sue Blizzard from Ararat, are proud of what their daughter has accomplished. Blizzard has made the Women’s Gift final at the Stawell Gift carnival in the past two years.
She was the back marker in the 2015 event, and will be coming back in 2016 for another attempt.
Blizzard is coached by Matty Beckham in Canberra. She has also been training with Melissa Breen, Australia’s 100-metre record holder and 2012 Stawell Women’s Gift winner.
Australia’s fastast woman, Breen broke the 100-metre record in 2014 in a time of 11.11 seconds.
