FURPHY PARTNERS WITH THE POWERCOR STAWELL GIFT TO CONTINUE A GREAT AUSTRALIAN STORY

These words uttered by John Furphy in 1910 in Shepparton, Victoria could easily apply to the athletes of the 22nd running of the Stawell Gift, which took place just a mere three hours drive from where Furphy forged water tanks out of steel cast and iron, offering a beacon of refreshment.

With the addition of hops and malt, and a slightly dry finish for the freshness, some 111 years later, Australians all over will enjoy an ice cold Furphy while watching the 139th running of the Powercor Stawell Gift this Easter Long Weekend.

Furphy Refreshing Ale and Furphy Crisp Lager are the Official Beers of the Powercor Stawell Gift for the next five years under a new partnership between the two iconic Australian brands. Spectators will enjoy Furphy Crisp Lager and Furphy Refreshing Ale Cans on the hill and grandstand bars at Central Park, while seltzer fans will enjoy the range of White Claw Seltzers available at the event. Australians at home can reach for an ice cold Furphy from the esky while taking in all the action on the Seven Network on Easter Monday.

Furphy is the naming rights partner of the Furphy Chris Perry Memorial Backmarkers Invitational Handicap on Easter Monday and all heat winners at the Powercor Stawell Gift carnival will receive a six-pack of Furphy Crisp Lager or Furphy Refreshing Ale. In true Australian style, winners of the Powercor Stawell Gift and Change our Game Winners Gift will receive a carton, in addition to a $40,000 first prize cheque. We know how they’ll celebrate.
