CATHY FREEMAN
Cathy Freeman thrilled the crowd with two of the most memorable races ever witnessed at Stawell.
Giving starts of up to 54m she won the Womens 400m final from scratch in the time of 53.24 seconds in 1995. The following year she returned and in miserable conditions and despite interference she ran down the leaders to win in 50.54 seconds.
