Vin Dowie was a prominent middle distance & distance runner on both sides of the Second World War. In 1935 he won the Federation Mile & he was placed second in the 1936 Stawell Half Mile Handicap & third in the1938 two mile Grampian Stakes.
Following the War he was even more successful, winning both the Federation Handicap on 1946 & the Grampian Stakes in 1947.
Sadly he was knocked off his bicycle on his way to work & died when he was only in his 40s.
